Duties:

Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of a healthy and safe environment for all individuals who reside, work or visit the facility. Also responsible for actively cooperating and participating in the maintenance of the residence as a normalized homelike environment, which serves to promote the fullest physical, emotional an social development of the individuals.

 

Qualifications:

  • A High School Dimploma or equivalent
  • Preference will be given to those with some form of additional training in human services.

Community Habilitation Specialist

Duties:

  • Provide "hands-on" assitance and training to persons with developmental disabilities who are residing with their relatives at home. You will provide training in the following areas: daily living skills, self care tasks, general household management, travel training, health care, financial management, social behaviors and enhancing recreational skills. 
  • Plan and implement social and recreational outings, such as trips and utilization of community resources.
  • Provide Respite Care.
  • Implement individualized goals.
  • Document in daily log books.
  • Interact with individuals and their families.
  • Complete Monthly Reports.

Assistant Residential Manager
Openings in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx

Full Time: 40 Hours

 

Duties:

In collaboration with the Residence Manager, ensure that the day-to-day operations and quality and appearance of the residence complies with established AABR policy.  The ARM promotes and encourages a person-centered home environment. the ARM must possess strong analytical, organizational, advocacy, communication and leadership skills; as well as strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years work experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in social services and/or developmental disabilities areas.
  • Working knowledge of the OPWDD system preferred
  • Must be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Able to work flexible full time schedule including evenings and weekends as per the needs of the facility and in response to emergencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Current certification in the areas of Medication Administration (AMAP), First Aid, CPR, SCIP-R
  • Valid NYS Driver's License and ability to drive 12-15 person transport vehicle.

AM Shift Supervisor
Openings in Queens and the Bronx

Full time: 40 Hours

Duties:

The AM Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising, overseeing and ensuring that issues involving the residence and individuals that AABR serves run effectively and productively. The Shift Supervisor schedules and accompanies individuals on their medical appointments. The Shift Supervisor communicates and corresponds with Doctors/Physicians, Residence Nurse and Management. The Shift Supervisor advocates for each individual while at medical appointments. Shift Supervisors must possess strong analytical, organizational, advocacy, communication and leadership skills; as well as strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 1 year experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
  • Valid NYS Driver's License and ability to drive and transport passengers using 12-15 person vehicle
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Candidates must become certified in Medication Administration (AMAP), First Aid, CPR, SCIP-R and there after maintain certification.

Medicaid Service Coordinator
College Point, Queens
Full Time: 40 Hours

Duties:

The Medicaid Service Coordinator (MSC) assist individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, their families and circle of support in accessing services and supports appropriate to their needs and to ensure indivuduals' needs, hopes and desires are to the best of their abilities. The MSC also provides ongoing support, advocacy and follow-up for each individual receiving case management services under the auspices of AABR, Inc. and uses a person-centered planning process in developing, implementing and maintaining an Individualized Service Plan (ISP).

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or 2 years of verifiable college education equivalent in human services or health related field
  • 1 year experience participating in assessments or service planning.
  • Working Knowledge of the OPWDD system preferred.
  • Preference given to qualified candidates who are bilingual.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel within the five boroughs of New York city and Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
