A Grand Slam Day at Citi Field

On June 13, AABR individuals, staff, and volunteers came together for one of our favorite traditions—a day at Citi Field to cheer on the New York Mets. The excitement was palpable from the moment the buses pulled up, setting the stage for a memorable outing filled with energy, joy, and community.

Decked out in Mets and AABR gear, our group showed up ready to celebrate. For many, this event is a highlight of the year—something they talk about for weeks in advance. And for some, it was their very first time experiencing a major league game, making the day even more meaningful.

The atmosphere buzzed with the classic sounds and smells of the ballpark—hot dogs, popcorn, lemonade, and ice cream adding to the fun. But what stood out most wasn’t just the game—it was the laughter, spontaneous cheers, dancing, and high-fives shared throughout the crowd.

More than just a sporting event, the day was a celebration of inclusion and connection. It offered our individuals the chance to experience the excitement of a live game, engage with peers and fans, and be part of something bigger.

We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff, who coordinated every detail—from transportation and seating to ensuring everyone’s safety and comfort. Their effort and care are what make experiences like this possible.
