The Move, Create & Meditate initiative began with a grant from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which allowed us to hire behaviorists to help our individuals process trauma and build resilience following the COVID-19 lockdown. Our collaboration with the STRYDD Center also brought Stress First Aid training to our staff, equipping them with valuable tools to support individuals—and each other—through challenging times.
This effort led to the creation of the Move & Create annual campaign, an initiative born out of the regression many of our individuals faced during the pandemic. We recognized the need for renewed engagement, so we launched programs focused on art and wellness to keep those we serve active, engaged, and on a path to recovery and growth.
This year, we’re excited to expand Move & Create into Move, Create & Meditate, integrating mindfulness and meditation practices into our wellness programs. This addition ensures a holistic approach, addressing the body, mind, and spirit.
We also recognize that the stress and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities ripple outward, affecting their entire circle of support—families, advocates, educators, medical professionals, and social workers. It became clear that it was time for us to take the lead and bring these voices together.

On June 5, 2025, we will unveil Move, Create & Meditate: AABR’s First Annual All Abilities Wellness Summit. This milestone event, held at the Crest Hollow Country Club on Long Island, will also coincide with the launch of our Long Island hub office for our Program Without Walls, further expanding our reach and impact. The Summit will bring together individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, along with their entire support network, for a half-day event dedicated to holistic wellness.
Key highlights include:
- A keynote address from the STRYDD Center on Stress First Aid for the entire circle of support
- A panel of experts across multiple disciplines—art, fitness, nutrition, medical, spiritual, holistic wellness, and mental health
- Limited expo tables for vendors offering related services and products
- Sponsorship opportunities to engage corporate and philanthropic partners
