Spotlight On: Kevin

Program Without Walls Participant and AABR Resident

Each issue, we’ll be highlighting an individual who resides with us or attends one of our programs—because the people we serve have incredible stories, talents, and perspectives to share. This month, we’re excited to introduce you to Kevin.

Kevin is a proud participant in AABR’s Program Without Walls (PWoW) and a resident in our community. Known for his outgoing, friendly nature and love of conversation, Kevin is a familiar face across AABR. Both staff and fellow individuals light up when he’s around, and he was thrilled to be featured in our newsletter!

1. What’s your favorite part about AABR?
I love the event parties and gardening. And I really love spending time with my friends Darae, Jerell, and Rafael.

2. What’s something new you’ve recently learned?
I learned how to swim! We play games in the pool and practice swimming, and I also like playing in the sprinkler. I also went to the 9/11 Museum in Manhattan and learned a lot there—it was very interesting.

3. What’s your favorite hobby or activity in your free time?
I like playing basketball and playing “Red Light, Green Light, One Two Three.”

4. Do you have a special talent you’d like to share?
I’m really good at English and I like writing down recipes.

5. What’s something you want the world to know about you?
I want people to know that I’m a nice person and I really enjoy spending time with my PWoW group—especially when we go out in our new van!

6. If you had to describe AABR in one word or phrase, what would it be?
Dancing! That’s the word I think of when I think of AABR.
