This summer, each of our residences can enjoy a weekend getaway at Hanid House — and the excitement is undeniable. Between the swimming pool, the expansive grounds, and the many activities nearby on the North Fork, our individuals are eager to spend quality time away with their housemates and staff members.
What began as a weekend retreat has grown into something truly meaningful. These are no ordinary outings — they’ve become unforgettable experiences filled with joy, personal growth,
and deeper connections.
Each visit to Hanid House brings something new. From dancing under the stars and painting at vineyards to strolling through charming boutiques, exploring flower farms, and taking in live music, our weekends are filled with variety and adventure. Calmer moments, like sensory walks on the beach or lavender-themed relaxation sessions, offer peaceful ways to connect with nature and one another.
Some weekends feel like a full wellness retreat. One standout moment featured a candle-lit
meditation session with face masks and soothing panda drum music — a calming, joy-filled
experience shared by all. We’ve even held outdoor “club nights,” offering a safe space for individuals to dance freely and celebrate together.
The pool has quickly become a highlight for many. Several individuals have taken their first-ever swim lessons at Hanid House — a powerful journey from hesitation to confidence. Witnessing
those breakthroughs has been both moving and inspiring for everyone involved.
Each weekend presents new challenges and opportunities — from trying new foods and sensory
activities to group hikes and creative workshops. With every experience comes growth, not only
for the individuals we serve, but for the staff as well. We move together, learn together, and
celebrate every small victory along the way.
