DANISH MINISTER OF TRADE AND INVESTMENT VISITS AABR

 

(Queens, NY)On Monday, 2/4/13, AABR, a social service agency caring for people with disabilities, welcomed the Trade and Investment Minister of Denmark, Ms. Pia Olsen Dyhr to one of their Day Habilitation Centers in Jamaica, Queens. The Minister presided over the contract ceremony between AABR and Denmark based Team Online, a provider of case management software solutions

 

“The entire field is moving to a paperless system,” said Thomas McAlvanah, Executive Director of AABR. “By partnering with TeamOnline, we seek to be at the forefront of that change.”

AABR, INC. CELEBRATES 56th YEARS OF SERVICE

 

(Flushing, N.Y) – On May 4th, AABR, Inc., a nonprofit that empowers nearly 1000 individuals with disabilities in New York City, ushered in its 57th year of service with a stylish and lively Dinner Dance and Casino Night at Terrace on the Park.

 

Cheryl Wills, the award winning reporter and anchor for NY1 News, emceed the gala. Honored at the event were Mr. Francis X.B. Harrington, Managing Director of Frank Crystal and Company, Mr. Cliff Tatum, Executive V.P. of Commercial Building Maintenance and The DaProcida Family, for their many years of advocating for people with special needs.

IBEW LOCAL #3, HOST A SPECIAL NIGHT FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABLITIES

 

(Flushing, N.Y) – For the last 8 years, the Motorcycle, Greek and Allied clubs of the Local Union #3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have sponsored the Harvest Ball, a Black Tie and Gown event for 500 people with developmental disabilities and their families.

 

The guests are individuals served by AABR Inc. a Queens based non-profit serving nearly 1000 individuals with special needs across the Metropolitan area.

LOCAL GROUP DONATES 5 iPADS TO QUEENS SCHOOL FOR AUTISM

 

(College Point, NY) – On October 17th, Tom Peterson, President of the Knights of York, a philanthropic organization comprised of local business leaders, dropped off 5 new iPads to a school for children with autism in College Point, Queens.

 

The School, the New York Child Learning Institute (NYCLI), works with a population of students ranging from Pre-School through the age of 21. Focusing on language, social, and academic skills, 16% of the population eventually moves into more typical schools.

AFTER 21 YEARS QUEENS NON-PROFIT TO BE LED BY NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

(College Point, NY) – After twenty-one years, AABR, Inc., a Queens based agency serving nearly 1000 individuals with developmental disabilities in the New York Metropolitan area, will be led by a new Executive Director.

 

Tom McAlvanah, former Executive Vice President of the Non-Profit Lifespire, Inc. will be taking the reins from the retiring Christopher Weldon. “We are lucky to have him,” says Weldon, who financially quadrupled AABR’s size during his time at the helm.
